Mississippi "Mibs" Beaumont is the main protagonist of the novel Savvy by Ingrid Law. She is the third child of the family and the first girl. At the beginning of Savvy, she is worried about obtaining her savvy when she reaches the age of thirteen. She lived with her parents, Grandpa Bomba, and her four siblings (Rocket, Fish, Samson, and Gypsy) in a place her grandfather created, Kansaska-Nebransas, in the first book. She recieved a little brother named Tucker between Savvy and Scumble. At the end of Scumble, Mibs gets engaged to Will Meeks Junior, a childhood friend.
Personality[]
Mibs is all-around a good-natured girl. She doesn't have any good friends outside the family except for Will Junior, the grandson of the pastor at church. She always prays to God and asks him to help her out. She is a bit stubborn at times, but genuinely loves her family. She is also very determined. She is also very caring for others since she was willing to go all the way to Salina Hope Hospital to save her father from a coma. She can be described as faithful, loyal, determined, and honest. However, she can sometimes come off as rude or standoffish to others upon initially meeting them, or shy and anti-social, as well as panicky and meek. She often feels for others more than herself, but seldom speaks up. She is a headstrong woman.
Appearance[]
Mibs has hair described as "sand and straw" reminiscent. She inherited it from her mother, and hazel eyes from Poppa. She has fair skin. She is considered humbly pretty by majority characters of the first book. She sports jeans and sneakers in the very first book, only changing for occasions like the wedding in the second book. She is always seen in comfortable clothes, like slacks.
